persistent crash hard reset bug?

OK, I just installed SP2 for 3dsmax after noticing that it had been released. So I havent tested the scene on SP1.

Anyway, whilst playing with multitexturing in ofusions material editor, I managed to get a repeating hard reset bug.

I have included the simple max scene on my web server, incase someone else can repeat the problem....

If you go to the material editor, you will see that the top left slot has an ogre material that is assigned to the multitextured sphere.

go to the texture layer higlighted below:



Drag the map channel spinner highlighted in the image below:



Dragging the map channel spinner causes my system crash to a black screen and do a hard reset. it happens every time on my system. Thought I'd post and see if the same problem occured on other systems.

I experimented some more, and it seems to happen with map channel spinners. Doesn't matter which texture layer it is. Dragging the spinner slowly, say 0-6 is fine, but dragging beyond 12 quickly causes the hard reset.

It's not likely that people will use more than 4 UV channels, and I discovered the problem by accident. If it occurs for others, it may be worth restricting the number of possible map channels. May only be a problem unique to me though, I don't have another system to test on.

Not sure if you can uninstall SP2 and see if SP1 is any different. Anyway, I'll see what happens here before taking any drastic actions .

I tested your scene today and the uv channel issue cant be reproduced

In any case, i will limit the number of texture channels to a more conservative set
