Just a crazy idea, how about making the sunken track really an underwater level.
I Would add some brighter touches, as all the scenery is quite dark at the moment. Something like the Bioshock atmosphere would be cool. (so the brighter accents would come from a more clear blue ocean color, brighter rusty brown touches, colourful coral growth, gold building ornaments or lighter grey stone, maybe even some god rays through the water)
If you don't like the idea of racing in water, you could also encapsulate the track in glass tubes under the sea, even more bioshock ideas

However in the future we still do plan to have a pure underwater level pieces which can also transition to surface tracks.

Hi,
you should add some steering animation to your vehicle. That would make the movement much more realistic. Just some turning of the jet beams would help a lot i think and shouldn't be so hard and a nice placeholder for a more complex system.

What are you using to create the levels?
What is the poly count on that player model?
Were you ever considering on using SkyX? I have been contemplating on using it but I am not to sure about it yet.

Just to let you know that TrackVerse Alpha v0.1 is finally ready for download. It is still an early work in progress but the player will be able to build their own tracks and race on LAN or internet play provided that they know the host's IP address. To download it visit http://trackverse.net/

Awesome! But what happened to creating levels in Blender? Have you given up on that for some reason or was your track editor planned as a core feature and you just gradually switched over?

@bstone: the block/art pieces has always been built in blender with the main purpose of using them to construct the track in the track editor.

I see. Thanks for clarification. I just remember somewhere in the old posts you mentioned using the Blender export add-on to export scenes in .scene files. Anyway, amazing and very inspiring work!

Hi dudeabot, each themes in the future such as the cartoon theme will feature enough building blocks to make it possible to build their own set of tracks based on a theme or they could be mixed n matched with other themes to create a whackier looking track.

This stuff is awesome... Haven't had too much time to play with it but I should probably mention that it did nothing but crash in WIndows 8. Can't say why but even other software was having trouble in Windows 8 so I can't tell if it was the OS or the game... Back to XP now. ;P
