Crossplatform way of finding ttf

Hi,

does anybody know true crossplatform way of finding ttf file path by let's say font family...
I'm writing a demo app and there is a debug overlay which needs a font, and I'd like to not use any resources distributed with the app, rather I think of a way of searching host system for a font by family and just use it....
Quick googling gave nothing.
